Strata

The designer sought to create a piece of furniture that acted as both a functional seat as well as a sculptural conversation piece. Strata was created using digital 3D modeling, allowing for the exploration of many possibilities before a final design was chosen. The wood 'bricks' are cut from sheets of plywood using CNC technology, and assembled by hand. The surfaces of the seat and footrest are polished to a shine, and contrast the exterior surface of the overall form. When not in use, the footrest can be placed on the seat, transforming the chair into a purely sculptural piece.

Table T

Table T® combines smooth lines and strong materials. The led light passes through the white semi-transparent surface leaving an eye-catching impression of linear graphics behind. DuPont™ Corian® acts as the table’s main material, creating an intriguing play between luminosity and substance, which contrasts attractively with the metallic painted holding structure and solid wood as its standing parts.

Printed Bulbs

The ‘Printed Bulbs’ series explores new forms for light bulbs that reimagine the conventional ‘Edison bulb’ with a specialized 3D printing process. Within the clear bulb material internal structures are carefully designed to guide and reflect light. These techniques can be fabricated entirely in a 3D printer to enable new form-factors for lighting design. Each light bulb can be attached to any existing lighting fixture, such as a chandelier or desk lamp, or used individually as a pendant lamp or free-standing light.
