5x5

The 5x5 chair is a typical design project where the limitation is recognised as a challenge. The chair's seat and the back are made of xilith which is very difficult to be shaped. Xilith is the raw material that can be found 300 meters under the ground's surface and is comined with a coal. Currently the majority of the raw material is thrown away. From environmental point of view this material generates waste on the earth's surface. Therefore the idea about the chair design seemed to be very provocative and challenging.

Genipabu

Genipabu is a sideboard designed for dining and living spaces. The upper section holds an integrated wine rack formed by rhythmic triangular structures that recall the shapes of the Genipabu dunes in Natal, Brazil. The door handles are sculpted with smooth curves that follow the wind-carved forms of the sand. The base structure is made of MDF covered with natural wood veneers, and the wine rack is machined with CNC equipment. External parts are made of certified solid wood finished with natural carnauba wax. The sideboard measures 2100 by 500 by 680 millimetres.

The curved doors are made of flexible plywood with a high gloss lacquer finish, and marble is applied to the top surface. The upper surface can also be used as a deck for turntables and music equipment. Internal cable channels and power outlets allow several devices to operate through a single connection. A digital system controls humidity and lighting.
